Be who you is!

“Be who you is, not who you ain’t. ‘Cause if you ain’t who you is, then you is who you ain’t.”

~ Unknown

I’ve been thinking about this quote a lot lately. Now more than ever I think it’s imperative to be your true self. True to you, true to your friends and family and true to your goals and desires. We’re all different and we all do and see things differently. Just think how boring the world would be if everyone looked the same, acted the same and thought the same way. Being different is great. Being genuine is great. And being authentic is great too. The world needs you to be you. If you don’t do it nobody else will do it for you and then the world will not get to see what you truly have to offer and how great you are.

It’s incredibly liberating to let yourself be who you are. Stop worrying about what other people think and say about you. You can’t control that and some people are going to do it no matter what you say or do. At a time in this world when you can be anything you can imagine just get on with being…you!

So with all of this in mind I want to introduce myself…My name is Robert D. Jones and I am a photographer. Not only is it who I am but it’s also what I do. I “see” differently than other photographers so if you’re interested in seeing what I saw then please take a look at my work and let me know what you think. And who you are too.

This is a self-portrait I took with a pinhole camera that I made out of wood. It uses a 4” x 5” piece of photo paper as a negative in the place of film. I developed the paper negative and then made a contact print that’s the same size.
