Not Your Typical Photo Booth: A Studio Portrait Experience for Your Event.
I've photographed a lot of people over the years, and one thing I've learned is that you don't need an elaborate setup to make a great portrait. Good lighting, a simple background, and a little direction can go a long way.
Of course, a fun prop and a good sense of humor don't hurt either.
That's the idea behind my Studio Portrait Photo Booth.
I'm a professional photographer based in Boulder, Colorado, and I bring a fully equipped portrait studio to corporate events, weddings, holiday parties, private celebrations, and brand events throughout Boulder, Denver, and the Colorado Front Range.
Think of it as a photo booth with a professional photographer behind the camera. There's studio lighting, a clean backdrop, room for a little personality, and yes, props are welcome.
The goal is simple: Have some fun and make portraits people will actually want to keep.
A Photo Booth With a Photographer's Touch
There's no shortage of photo booths out there. Some are automated, some are elaborate, and some produce a pretty entertaining collection of snapshots.
Mine takes a slightly different approach.
I bring the same attention to lighting, composition, and expression that I use in my commercial and editorial portrait photography. The difference is that we're doing it in the middle of your event, where people are already dressed up, enjoying themselves, and hopefully feeling pretty good.
Guests step in front of the camera, and we take it from there.
Some people arrive ready for their close-up. Others need a little encouragement. A few might reach for a prop. That's all part of the fun.
I offer direction when it's helpful, keep things moving, and try to make the experience comfortable for everyone.
You don't need to know how to pose. That's my job.
Professional Lighting Makes a Difference
Good lighting can make just about anyone look better. It's one of those things you might not notice when it's done well, but you can certainly tell when it isn't.
My Studio Portrait Photo Booth uses professional studio lighting and a simple backdrop to create consistent, flattering portraits throughout your event.
Whether I'm photographing one person, a couple, or a group of colleagues having a little fun, I pay attention to the details that make a photograph work.
Lighting, composition, timing, and sometimes knowing exactly when to press the shutter.
The result is a collection of portraits with a consistent, polished look that still leaves plenty of room for individual personalities.
Real People. Real Expressions. Maybe a Few Props.
One of my favorite things about photographing people is that everyone approaches the camera differently.
Some people are naturals. Some are convinced they aren't photogenic. And some just need a minute to loosen up.
I've worked with all of them.
My approach is pretty straightforward. I give people a little direction, let them settle in, and look for those moments when their personality comes through.
Sometimes that means a classic, beautifully lit portrait. Other times it means a big laugh, an unexpected expression, or a group of friends getting creative with the props.
I'm good with all of it.
The point isn't to make everyone look the same. It's to make people look like themselves just on a really good day.
A Clean, Timeless Look
A simple backdrop keeps the attention where it belongs: on your guests. The resulting images feel refined, modern, and versatile, making them suitable for personal keepsakes as well as professional applications.
A Little Fun at the Art Directors Club of Denver
At an Art Directors Club of Denver event, the guests certainly brought their personalities.
Some kept things relatively straightforward. Others had a little more fun with the experience. And that's exactly what makes these events interesting to photograph.
You never quite know what you're going to get.
But with good lighting, a little direction, and people willing to play along, you can come away with some pretty memorable portraits.
How My Studio Portrait Photo Booth Works
The process is designed to be straightforward for both event organizers and guests.
I try to keep the process simple. You're organizing an event, and the last thing you need is another complicated detail to manage.
1. We talk about your event.
We'll discuss the location, schedule, number of guests, and what you have in mind. Whether it's a corporate gathering, wedding reception, or holiday party, we'll figure out an approach that fits. The result is a seamless addition to your event and a collection of portraits that extends its value beyond the day itself.
2. I bring the studio to you.
I arrive ahead of time to set up the lighting, backdrop, camera equipment, and portrait area. Everything is ready before guests start stepping in front of the camera.
3. Your guests have their portraits made.
Throughout the event, I photograph guests individually or in groups. Some prefer a traditional portrait, while others want to have a little fun with the props.
Either way, I keep the experience relaxed, efficient, and enjoyable.
4. I take care of the photographs.
After the event, I edit and prepare the portraits, paying attention to the same details I would with any professional photography assignment.
5. You receive a digital gallery.
The finished portraits are delivered digitally for viewing, downloading, and sharing, based on the arrangements we make for your event.
It's a relatively simple setup that produces something guests can enjoy long after the event is over.
Corporate Events, Weddings, and Just About Any Good Reason to Get Together
My Studio Portrait Photo Booth is a good fit for events where people are part of what makes the occasion special.
For corporate events, conferences, awards ceremonies, and brand celebrations, it gives attendees an opportunity to have a professional portrait made without scheduling a separate photo session. Depending on your event, guests can keep things polished and professional or loosen up a little.
For weddings, private parties, and holiday celebrations, it's a chance for friends, family, and colleagues to get together in front of the camera and have some fun.
And because the portraits are made with professional lighting and equipment, the finished photographs are something more than a quick snapshot.
Some might end up framed on a desk. Others could become profile pictures or family favorites.
And I'm sure a few will provide a good laugh for years to come.
Frequently Asked Questions About My Studio Portrait Photo Booth
What makes your photo booth different from a traditional photo booth?
The biggest difference is that I'm the photographer behind the camera. Instead of relying on an automated booth, I use professional studio lighting, composition, and personal direction to make portraits of your guests. The experience can be fun and spontaneous while still producing high-quality photographs.
Do you provide props?
Yes. Props can be part of the experience, and guests are welcome to have fun with them. They're also welcome to skip the props and have a more traditional studio portrait made. There's no single right way to do it.
What kinds of events is your photo booth suitable for?
I photograph guests at corporate events, award ceremonies, weddings, holiday parties, brand events, and private celebrations. The portrait experience can be tailored to the occasion, whether you're looking for something professional, playful, or a little of both.
How do guests receive their portraits?
After the event, the photographs are professionally edited and delivered through a digital gallery, according to the arrangements made for your event.
